What would be a good motorcycle to build for a beginner?
On August - 28 - 2010
I am 16 and I really like mechanics. I don’t have a lot of prior knowledge but I would really enjoy build my own motorcycle while i’m still in high school. Does anyone have suggestions for a motorcycle that would be reliable and easy to maintain?
if you are asking about building a motorcycle from scratch that is not going to happen. you do not have the skill, tools or the money to do that. if you want to try rebuilding a broken down bike go for it but because you say that you have no real knowledge of mechanics do not expect a Miracle.

You talking ‘build’ or ‘rebuild?!?
If rebuild start with a small two stroke dirt bike, simple and fun.
If BUILD, I would like a solar-powered, 150+ mph machine that is heavy enough to stay on the ground but light enough to fly over t-boners.

A vintage Japanese cruiser or standard bike will be cheap to buy and can be fixed up really nice- to say a cafe racer or bobber. If you buy really cheap there will almost always be some technical details that must be fixed.

Honda rebel, small, lightweight, inexpensive and a good starter bike.
