Protect Your Hide When You Ride!

I am 20 years old and I have a regular drivers license, live in Chicago. I just want to know what I need to do in order to get my motorcycle permit and then a motorcycle license.

Exact same procedure as a regular drivers license.
Go to DMV – fill out application – take the written test – take the road test.
Some states will waive the road test if you take a certified rider course.

Search for a course near you and ask for information.

don’t know about your State requirements, but this is good for helping you pass the permit / license test.

many sites charge for practice tests this thorough, but this site offers it for free

the first thing you’ll need to do is pass a test. whether studying your state’s handbook or otherwise, this will help you pass no matter what

You’ll have to do a test of course, it’s very easy, they just want to make sure you know how to operate a bike, and not run it into a house or anything. I think it’s cheaper than a Driver’s License too, located at the same place you got that.

My suggestion is that you take a Motorcycle Safety Foundation class. Look them up on the web. They are not very expensive and you will learn how to ride safely. They will go through the written test and explain what you should know. They will go through all of the driving test patterns that are used in your state…figure eights, stopping quickly, sharp right and left turns, swerving, etc. Very useful and you will be a safer rider.
