Motorcycle Leathers Required For These Motorcycle Vacations!

Posted by admin On February - 25 - 2009

Motorcycle Vacation Spots

One of the greatest things about owning a motorcycle is the chance to just pick up and go anywhere you might like to go. With the right motorcycle vacations, you will be able to do just that. There are lots of different motorcycle vacations that you can choose from, and each of them will leave you breathless and excited. Going on a motorcycle vacation with your spouse or your friends can be an exciting and wonderful way to enjoy your vacation. The trick is knowing where to go and when you would like to be there.

Black Hills, South Dakota

One of the most scenic areas in the world is located in the western most point in South Dakota. South Dakota is already known for their sparse population and friendly people, both of which make for an exciting summer time vacation. In the middle and late summer, motorcycles descend on small towns in western South Dakota – namely for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

The Rally in Sturgis – which really ends up being a Rally in all of the Black Hills, is an exciting time to be there with your bike and with your friends and family. You can visit shops and pick up bike gear, hang out with other bikers, or simply enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by people just like you. However, if you aren’t into the crowds, you can visit the Black Hills in the early summer – many people who visit the rally like to come early or stay late to enjoy the solitude that South Dakota can bring.

There are dozens of great rides to take in the Black Hills – including going up Needles Highway, driving out to Mount Rushmore, and simply enjoying the sights.

New England In The Fall

For an altogether different type of motorcycle experience, you can take in New England in the fall. It isn’t near as crowded as being in South Dakota might be, but the sights are nonetheless spectacular. You’ll drive through broad two and four lane highways and through beautiful foliage. It is easy to get lost in the back roads, and that might be just what you are looking for in this amazing countryside.

There are plenty of great quaint towns to visit along the ride, and there are also lots of great sights to see. You can stop in for some clam chowder or lobster stew along the way, and bundle up next to a fire in a different bed and breakfast lodge each night. No matter what your travels take you, the fall in New England is spectacular – with beautiful bright trees, warm sunny days and nights with the cool and crisp edge in the air.

California Wine Country

For a winter getaway, or at any time during the year, you might want to consider going to California Wine Country. Being in Wine Country in California is exciting because it is one of the great vacation hot spots. You can take your time driving through the winding, mountainous roads, and stop at wineries along the way. Of course, you want to leave yourself ample time at each Winery to sample the wines and rest for awhile before getting back on your bike!

Traveling through California Wine Country can be great because it is a way for you to enjoy that California sunshine all day long, while still being out on your bike and doing something that you love to do. It is a fantastic way for you to spend a week, or perhaps two, and you can take this type of trip at any time during the year.

Any one of these amazing vacations can be a great way for you to get out and see the sights that the United States has to offer. However, there are also motorcycle vacations that you can take all over the world. Chances are good that at any time of the year, in any place you’d like, you’ll be able to find exciting and fun motorcycle vacations that seem like they were created just for you! No matter what you choose, you know you’ll have a fun and exciting time with your motorcycle vacations.

So get out your road map, dust off your motorcycle leathers, pull on your leather boots, buckle up that motorbike helmet and get ready to ride. But don’t forget to pack your camera because there is going to be plenty of photo opportunities for you to share this summer.

Like J R says, nothing but a sealed container will work. The constant temperature and humidity changes in a garage will be hard on long term stored leathers.

Are leathers or gor-tex better for motorcycle clothing?

Posted by admin On August - 9 - 2010

I’ve just bought a bike and am wondering whether to get full leathers or to get Gor-tex? Has anyone got any recommendations from experience? Thanks :)

For day to day travel then use gore-tex, on warm days you can remove the liners but you at least know that if it rains then you will stay dry. Most gore-tex outfits tend to have more basic armor than leathers as well in the shoulders and forearms. If you are just getting a bike for good weekend weather then I’d opt for the leathers …. or do as I did and buy both :D

Are leathers or Gor-tex better for motorcycle clothing?

Posted by admin On August - 5 - 2010

I’ve just bought a bike and am wondering whether to get leathers or Gor-tex? Anyone with recommendations especially from people with experience welcome!

It depends.
I tried both.
Goretex lasts longer and offers better rain protection.

I ride a Ninja 250, I’m just a beginner (first bike) and don’t wanna look bad (I’m far from that, lol) or anything, this is only for my safety when I ride my bike, I’m not a "biker chick" so to speak. What’s a good website to find cool stuff that’s not black leather? Brown would be ok. Or tan? Thanks

i have a 2005 sposter Harley Davidson 1200. what is the best kind of oil to use on it?

Hands down……AMSOIL 20/50 MOTORCYCLE oil is THE BEST. It can be run in the engine and the primary/trans. Next best is Mobil 1 and Lucas….MOTORCYCLE OILS. For even better added protection, replace 6 ounces from each bottle of oil with Lucas Oil Stabilizer (SYNTHETIC stabilizer for syn oil, regular stabilizer for regular oil).
Stick with HD for the filter, they are actually the best.

Womens’ motorcycle leathers. Small size/skinny fit?

Posted by admin On May - 30 - 2010

I was wondering if anyone knew of any shops (online (UK) or in Bath/Bristol area, or in Hampshire), that do womens’ leathers. I’m a size 6, and I want them as skinny & tight fitting as possible for that reason! I’ve seen some but they mostly seem to go out on the ankle, instead of in. I guess this is for the boots but my dad says some good trainers would be okay.

I’m getting a 50cc (limited at 30mph) vespa, but my dad’s insisting that I wear proper biking gear, which is fair enough really – he was motorcycle instructor and now has a metal rod in his leg -shudders-. I want to as well really because I really don’t want scarred skin and road rash etc, but I don’t want to look like a fool in proper leathers which were designed for 400cc bikes haha :)

So I’m looking for ‘fashionable’ leathers (or textiles, I’ve seen some jeans with kevlar, which look quite look but they’re more boot cut than skinny fit), which would still protect me from a fall. I’m going to be riding in a town, where most of the roads are speed limited at 20mph (and traffic, so maybe 10mph :P ) so they probably wouldn’t have to survive a fall whilst going round a corner at 100mph ^^

Thanks for your help :)
The best ones I’ve found so far are – http://www.girlsbike2.com/acatalog/info_1_776.html

I just got a rod in my leg in September! LOL

If I were you, I’d find a shop, where you can try on gear, instead of online. Buying leather and gear online can be disappointing if you get the product, and it doesnt fit. I’ve noticed a lot of jackets by ICON and other manufacturers run smaller than usual. Trying it on in a shop before buying is a much wiser idea, especially if you want custom fit stuff like you say.

How to look after white motorcycle leathers?

Posted by admin On May - 24 - 2010

Hi,
I got myself a two-piece leather set the otherday in red/white/blue. Does anyone know how i can keep it looking its best and stop it from turning grey (along with the rest of Britain) within a week ? Or at least pro-long the effects?
Many thanks!

My Dad has the same colour leathers for his same colour bike. The way he keeps it looking good is he doesn’t wear it. Joking. He uses a soft damp sponge to remove any dirt and a leather polisher to keep it looking in good condition. That seems to work as they still look really new and he is always out on his bike!

I currently ride a 1975 Honda CB 200 and I am looking to buy/rent a harley davidson that is somewhat light but can be used comfortably on the highway.

Harley’s entry level bike the 883 low is perfectly capable of all day highway travel. Though not as comfortable as their larger bikes on a long tour they are more than up to the task.

So I am doing a project on Harley Davidson and I need to know what kind of sales promotions they have going. At special events, and or dealerships?

I am not a biker so I am unfarmiliar with this brand, can anyone provide helpful insight?

Depending on the type of event most MC companies have promotional activities. These activities include product displays, test rides and hospitality facilities. The hospitality facilities are typically for current owners and friends. There might even be free food and beverages. They might also have raffles for clothing or accessories, and free posters, stickers, etc…

Once in a great while, but very seldom, there can be sales events with price discounts associated to the larger event. This does not happen often because the dealers are the ones that sell the bikes and the manufacturer would have to discount the price to the dealers as part of the promotion. It gets very messy because if one dealer gets a discount then other dealers want a discount too.

So sales promotions are usually managed on a national basis and not associated with special events.
