I bought a motorcycle in Alabama. The motorcycle has never been registered. I live in South Carolina now, but I am a Florida resident. I can’t find any paperwork on the bike at all. How do I go about getting the bike registered?

Unless you are active duty US military or a full-time college student, If you live and work in South Carolina, then legally you are a South Carolina resident.

Is this motorcycle street legal? Did you buy it from a dealer or a private party? Did you get a bill of sale or a title?

I’m going to Wales with my family for vacation in September. I’ll be with them for about 10 days or so but I want to go early and ride around, exploring the UK by my self. I need to get bike for this and would like it to be a dual-sport (a DR-Z400S would be perfect). I’ll be 21 when I’m there so that might be an issue with renting. I have my motorcycle endorsement in the US and know I’ll probably need to get an international licence. If any of you could point me in the right direction to get my hands on a bike I would greatly appreciate it( I"m researching myself and I’m just trying to get an idea of all my options) Thanks in advance ;D

Just to make it clear I’ll be with my family in Wales for 10 or so days, but I plan on being in the UK for about a month… so I’ll have a little less than three weeks to explore by myself.

Being able to hire a bike of that type, never mind that particular model, in the UK is unlikely though maybe not impossible. Short of searching with google there is not much else you can do about that. There are lots of other road bikes available though and the oppertunities to use an off roader are few and far between here – a road bike would be best.
Your age should not be a problem.
Helmets are the law here so you will have to factor in bringing one with you or buying one here – obviously you will also need the rest of the gear and a full set of waterproofs is necessary on any long UK trip.
The international permit might be a good idea but as it is just a translation maybe not required as we are quite good at reading American here!
Forget buying a bike here and the shipping back nonesense. By the time you get it sorted with necessary taxes etc it will be time for you to go home!

How long is a motorcycle permit good for before it expires. I thought it was a year but then I heard 6 months. Can’t seem to find anything on the DMV site and I can’t find the permit to look at it.

"Your driver license application is valid for 12 months from the application date."

Hey all you Harley riders! I’m back! Did you miss me?!?!?

I’m sure many of you have wondered where I’ve been over the last 5 months or so. I recently returned from a long motorcycle vacation in Europe (after an awesome trip to Sturgis of course!). In early August it appeared that the bond trading firm I work at was going to go under but we were lucky enough to get some stimulus funds/bailout money to help keep us afloat. As the company restructured with the new $, I was able to take the remainder of the year off and collect my bonus early. I must say, if you ever get a chance to tour Europe on a motorcycle, do it! I went through Spain, Italy, the Alps, Munich and many other parts of Europe. Even got to race on the Moto GP track in Munich! It was first class all the way! Anyway… I hope everyone is happy to have me back in the Yahoo Answers community! I just didn’t have time in Europe to log in and visit. Since getting back I’ve already put the battery charger on my Road King! Looking forward to riding again!

No not at all – you`re like stepping in dog $hit.Poser RUBS like you are what is wrong with bikes. I actually think you , Bart & all the other pretender idiots came from the same donor @ the sperm bank.

How much do you think my motorcycle leathers are worth?

Posted by admin On February - 9 - 2010

Okay, I have some brown motorcycle leathers. There a complete suit, trousers and top connected together. They also have a matching pair of boots the same colour. The leathers are probably on the best side of medium going to large and are official Honda leathers. They have the honda logo embroidered on them and the boots.

I think they’re from around 1960 -1970 in date and I would like to sell them in order to buy myself some leathers for my new motorcycle. Thanks for any answers!

At that age my freind …….. less then nothing to be honest.

With out been funny, try contacting Honda UK. They might want them for a age related display.

How fast do motorcycles usually go in a motorcycle race?

Posted by admin On December - 27 - 2009

How fast (in mph) do motorcycles usually go in a motorcycle race? I was at a racetrack watching the other day and was just curious. I’m not asking for the fastest someone’s ever gone, but just the average speed in an average race. Thanks.

It depends on the track…. At most Moto GP races riders are hitting around the 200mph area on the straight. Average speed is much less than that because of some of the tighter corners. Over on the Isle of Mann the average speed for the lap is getting close to 130mph with top speeds of 200mph again.

Will buying a motorcycle be cheaper at the end of the year?

Posted by admin On December - 22 - 2009

I am planning on buying a motorcycle soon. A Kawasaki Ninja 250R as it’s my first bike. Will they be cheaper when January starts, like an end of the year or new year sale?

yea… i think it will be cheaper if you find the right bargain… people are strapped for chas this time of year as its christmas and all and alot of people tend to get rid of there things for fast cash no matter what they are.. i could be a ps3 game there trying to sell or even a car!

Looking to buy a motorcycle jacket for a reasonable price. Not looking for a sports jacket and would prefer synthetic fibres as opposed to leathers. All I ask is for something waterproof and padded. Anyone out there have relative experiences? What are the best and worst in this market? Much appreciated!

If you are in the UK
AT the Moment GEORGE WHITE , INFINITY AND J & S clothing outlets are ALL offering WINTER kit at really good prices
from Between £120-£150 You can get Textile Jacket Trousers Gloves and boots ; Infact the whole Kaboodle.
they are all good quality and all are waterproof and warm
SO
the whole lot is going to keep you warm snug and stylish throughout the next year..
Frank Thomas jackets work out at about £60.00 -£90 at the moment from all three listed outlets

Phoenix, Arizona here. I know in California, we can do it. I go out there on my bike for tracks days all the time and just on vacation. And when I’m out there, I love it! Don’t have to wait in traffic, can always be first at the intersection and so on. However, here in Phoenix… it is so hot during the summer (talking 115 for two straight months) that especially on freeways, I think its stupid that we can’t go between cars. Ones that are especially parked due to insane traffic.

Do you think it MAY become legal anytime soon? Or do you think it’s ok for us riders to do so? Weird on how I can ride 200 miles west and have it be perfectly legal but can’t do it here.

Thanks
Reason I ask in this category is because I saw a Police Officer split lanes on his bike the other day in stuck traffic when I was in my car and I knew I would have got a ticket for that. But possibly it will become legal nationwide anytime soon? That would be so cool

I don’t have a problem with RESPONSIBLE riders doing it.

However, theres some smart @ss punks around here that show off……And damn near cause accidents by doing it.

So it’s these smart @ssess that cause that law to stand in my opinion.

I have a computer repair business in New York City and I am looking for a motorcycle that I will use to go to appointments, and transport computers. I already have a special case that mounts to any standard rear luggage rack, but I need a motorcycle! I am looking for a motorcycle that says "professional/utilitarian/fun"

It should be a relatively reliable bike–also nothing too sporty, nothing too much like a cruiser. Any ideas?

well I woudl suggest a good duel sport. These bikes are designed to carry luggage. They .are still light and capable in rain and snow. I listed a link below to a V Storm which I checked out not too long ago for cross country type riding. A lot of torque for stop and start traffic riding. space to attach water prrof saddle bags and a rear luggage and still have a passenger.
